The proposed $13m Queenstown Aquatic Centre will be a major extension to the existing Events Centre located adjacent to the Queenstown Airport at Franklin. Recently approved to proceed to developed design, the combined wet and dry sports facility will bring together the districts major indoor and outdoor sports.

The design is a collaborative effort from ASC Architects, pool specialist LHT Engineering Consultants and sculptor Virginia King. Inspired by the Remarkables Range of mountains to the east, the Aquatic Centre is a series of wedges that fan around the existing cricket oval to take advantage of the spectacular views.
