Designgroup New Zealand won an international design competition for the construction of the new UCOL City Campus in Palmerston North. The resulting commission included project management services, which were provided by DSA.

Project completion was required within a tight sixteen-month timeframe, dictating a fast track delivery solution.

An extensive value management program was established, achieving savings of some $13m without compromising aesthetic and functionality aspects of the award winning design.

Risk management protocols were also established which became an essential tool to ensure all negative impacts on time cost and quality objectives were mitigated.

Project management deliverables included consultant engagement, establishment of design and documentation procedures, contractor procurement and construction observation strategies.

The project was completed on schedule and under budget. Designgroup New Zealand received an NZIA Architecture Award for what is regarded as an outstanding achievement.
